Combos and how to play

Written guide · based on the official ability texts

Ambessa is an energy fighter whose passive triggers a short dash after an ability cast while moving or attacking, with bonus range, damage and attack speed on the next attack. Her twin drakehounds give her ability variants, and her ultimate teleports her onto the farthest enemy to stun them.

The trade
Cunning Sweep / Sundering Slam Q Cunning Sweep / Sundering Slam Q AA AA Lacerate E

When: An enemy is within range.

Cunning Sweep deals bonus damage, and if it hits, the next cast becomes a Sundering Slam in a straight line. Lacerate slows and damages.

The Lacerate dash
Lacerate E AA AA Repudiation W

When: You want to amplify your dash.

Using Drakehound's Step out of Lacerate triggers an extra strike at the end. Repudiation protects you during the chain.

The execution
Public Execution R Cunning Sweep / Sundering Slam Q Lacerate E

When: An isolated carry is in a straight line.

Public Execution teleports you onto the farthest enemy on a line, neutralizes them, then slams them to the ground for damage and a stun.

Laning phase

Cast an ability while moving or attacking to trigger your dash: it is the basis of your chain. Repudiation gives you a shield and deals bonus damage if you block damage from units other than minions.

Abilities

Drakehound's Step
PassiveDrakehound's Step
Entering an attack or movement command while casting an ability will cause Ambessa to dash a short distance once the ability is cast, granting her next attack bonus range, damage, and attack speed, and refunding energy.
Cunning Sweep / Sundering Slam
QCunning Sweep / Sundering Slam
Ambessa sweeps her twin drakehounds in a semicircle in front of her, dealing bonus damage to enemies hit by the blades. Striking an enemy will transform the next cast of this ability for a short period of time, causing her to slam her twin drakehounds down in a line in front of her, dealing bonus damage to the first enemy hit.
Repudiation
WRepudiation
Ambessa gains a shield, briefly braces herself, and then slams the ground to damage nearby enemies. If she blocked any non-minion damage while bracing herself, this ability will deal increased damage.
Lacerate
ELacerate
Ambessa whips her twin drakehounds around herself, damaging and slowing nearby enemies. Initiating Drakehound's Step from this ability causes her to strike a second time at the end of its dash.
Public Execution
RPublic Execution
Ambessa blinks to the farthest enemy champion in a line of her choosing and suppresses them upon her arrival. She then slams the enemy into the ground where they take damage and are stunned.
