WoW Forever book necklace nerf: the best necklace at level 30
A nerf in the WoW Forever beta: the two necklaces from the Friend of the Library quest, earned by handing 10 books to your faction's librarian, go from rare to uncommon quality. We looked for the best necklace for every spec around level 30, using our DPS simulator's stat weights.
What changes on the book necklaces
- NERF Erudite's Amulet: now +2 Agility and +3 Stamina (item level 23).
- NERF Scholarly Pendant: now +3 Stamina and +2 Spirit (item level 23).
- BALANCE The 20-book reward loses 5 item levels (40 to 35) but is no longer class-restricted.
What the necklaces are worth after the nerf
For a DPS spec, almost nothing: 2 Agility weighs very little next to attack or spell power, and Spirit does not count in our damage simulations. They are still a fine placeholder: before level 28, our dungeon data has no better necklace.
Best dungeon necklace around level 30, by spec
| Specs | Best necklace | Stats | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warrior, Rogue, Hunter, Retribution Paladin, Feral Druid | Ghostshard Talisman | +14 attack power, +9 Stamina (requires level 30) | Scarlet Monastery, Azshir the Sleepless |
| Mage, Shadow Priest, Warlock, Elemental Shaman, Balance Druid | Scorn's Icy Choker | +6 Intellect, +7 spell power, +5 Stamina (requires level 30) | Scarlet Monastery, Scorn |
| Enhancement Shaman | Scorn's Icy Choker, just ahead of Ghostshard Talisman | Scarlet Monastery |
Enhancement Shaman is the only close call: its spells use spell power, so both necklaces come out almost even in our simulation.
Method: each necklace is ranked with the stat weights our simulator computes for every DPS spec (attack power, spell power, hit, crit). Stamina and Spirit are not counted, and the weights are computed on a level-30 character. Tanks and healers are not covered.
