Holy Paladin: specialization guide

Healer

Holy is the Healer specialization of the Paladin in WoW: Forever. This page summarizes its talent tree as it appears in the game client (build 1.60.1.70753); the role is the one stated by the Icy Veins guide for the specialization.

Quick answers: Holy Paladin

Is Holy Paladin a good spec in WoW Forever?

The simulator does not rank healers yet, so we show no figure for Holy Paladin. The guide gives the talent build, the rotation read from the client's numbers and the stat priorities.

Which talents should Holy Paladin take?

Our simulator's build uses 51 points, split Holy 31 / Protection 15 / Retribution 5. Open this build in the talent calculator →

What gear should Holy Paladin wear?

There is no simulated gear list for healers: the simulator does not model healing over a full fight yet. Stat priority: Healing Power > Intellect > Mp5. Full gear and enchantments →

What rotation does Holy Paladin play?

Opening: Flash of Light as the main heal: 3.27 healing per mana for only 140 mana, on a 1.5 s cast ; Holy Light for big heals when mana allows (2.77 per mana, 732 healing per second on a 2.5 s cast) ; Instant Holy Shock and Light's Vigil for emergencies; Divine Favor before an important heal to guarantee a critical (Illumination then returns mana). Full rotation →

How do I level Holy Paladin from 1 to 60?

The first talent point comes at level 10, then one per level up to 51 at level 60. The guide gives the talent order step by step (derived from the level-60 build, not tested while leveling), the dungeons of each level band and the spec's best item in each. See the leveling →

Where can Holy Paladin find gear before level 60?

Our dungeon finder shows, for every dungeon, the best item for this spec according to the simulator's stat weights. Best dungeon items →

Talent template (level 60)

Level-60 healing build (51 points) put together by BrokenMeta from the talent descriptions: the simulator does not model healing yet, so this build is not simulated.

How to read these trees

The class's three trees, with the talents of the level-60 build (51 points) in colour and all the others in grey. The small number on the left of each row is the points you must have spent in the tree to reach it, and each talent's badge shows the points invested. This section is fixed: it does not move and does not depend on the calculator.

Leveling Holy Paladin from 1 to 60

The first talent point comes at level 10, then one per level: 1 point at level 10, 11 at level 20, 21 at level 30, 31 at level 40, 41 at level 50 and 51 at level 60. A row of a tree opens for every 5 points spent in that tree.

Derived order: the simulator does not rank healers, so the order follows the rows of the tree, top to bottom, from the level-60 build. It was not tested while leveling a character: it is a starting point, to be revisited with the released game's data.

Levels 1 to 9: no talent point yet, the first one comes at level 10.

Stat priority

In order of importance, according to Icy Veins (level 30).

Icy Veins: if you do not plan to really heal, look for Weapon Damage, Hit and Critical Strike instead.

  3. Mp5
  4. Critical Strike
  5. Spirit

Level 60 rotation

  1. Flash of Light as the main heal: 3.27 healing per mana for only 140 mana, on a 1.5 s cast.
  2. Holy Light for big heals when mana allows (2.77 per mana, 732 healing per second on a 2.5 s cast).
  3. Instant Holy Shock and Light's Vigil for emergencies; Divine Favor before an important heal to guarantee a critical (Illumination then returns mana).
  4. Lay on Hands as a last resort.
  5. Blessing of Might on the party and an aura at all times; Seal of Light for extra healing.

Healing is not simulated in combat. This rotation is derived from the client numbers (base heal, healing-power coefficient, mana, cast time) at 350 healing power and without talents: it gives an efficiency order, not a simulation result.

Method, Icy Veins recommendations and comparison

Healing is not simulated yet: this is the healing rotation Icy Veins recommends (level 30), reworded.

What Icy Veins recommends (level 30)

  • Flash of Light as the main heal (cheap, fast).
  • Holy Light for big heals when mana allows; instant Holy Shock in emergencies; Lay on Hands as a last resort.
  • Blessing of Might on the party and Devotion or Retribution Aura at all times; Seal of Light for extra healing.

Our comparison

Agreed with Icy Veins: Flash of Light as the main heal, Holy Light for big heals, Holy Shock in emergencies and Lay on Hands as a last resort. The numbers confirm it: Flash of Light is both the most efficient (3.27 per mana) and the cheapest (140 mana). Holy Shock's and Light's Vigil's numbers are not usable in the client. Computed without a combat simulation, at 350 healing power and without talents.
