WoW Forever: profession gear that also works in combat
The WoW Forever beta introduces gear tied to professions. The Deadmines drops pieces such as the Smelting Pants (handy for low-level miners) and, since the latest build, Cookie's Stirring Rod, a wand that speeds up cooking. The Arcanite Blacksmith Hammer is a throwing weapon that can stun its target and also counts as the blacksmith hammer you would otherwise carry in your bags. These are "horizontal progression" rewards: they do not necessarily make you stronger.
What it means for you
- Cooking: Cookie's Stirring Rod drops in the Deadmines and works for any wand user.
- Blacksmithing: the Arcanite Blacksmith Hammer frees a bag slot, on top of its stun chance.
- Miners: the Smelting Pants mostly help during the first levels.
- These are quality-of-life bonuses, not power upgrades: farm them if you care about the profession.
