WoW Forever: the October 15 racial rework, race by race
The October 15, 2026 WoW Forever beta build changes the racials of nine races. Human, Orc and Dwarf weapon specializations give way to critical bonuses, Tauren gain critical damage, Trolls double their regeneration and the Orc loses some defense. Here is the full table, what it means for picking a race before the November 4 launch, and what we have not simulated yet.
WoW Forever racials: every change, race by race
| Race | Racial | Before | After |
|---|---|---|---|
| Human | Sword Specialization → Ruthless | Sword specialization | +2% critical strike chance |
| Orc | Axe Specialization → Savage | Axe specialization | +1% critical strike chance |
| Orc | Blood Fury | 2 min cooldown | 3 min cooldown |
| Orc | Shatter Curse | Immunity, -15% magic damage | Dispels Curses and Banes, -5% |
| Dwarf | Mace Specialization → Earth Fury | Mace specialization | +2% critical damage and healing |
| Dwarf | Find Treasure | Finds treasure | Can also give extra items in most chests |
| Tauren | Endurance | +1% hit | +2% critical damage and healing |
| Tauren | Plainsrunning | Base speed | +3% mounted speed, stacks, but needs a minimum movement |
| Tauren | War Stomp / Cultivation | 2 min / 60 min | 90 s / 15 min |
| Troll | Regeneration | +10% | +20% |
| Skyborne | Wind Blessed | 1% haste | 3% haste |
| Skyborne | Skysight, Read Leyline, Walk on Air | Stand still, 2 min cooldown | Castable while moving, Walk on Air 90 s |
| Undead | Touch of the Grave | Uneven chance and cooldown | 30% for casters, 20% Paladin/Rogue/Warrior, 25 s internal cooldown |
| Gnome | Eureka! | Charges | 8 s buff with no charges, also helps Power Word: Shield |
| Night Elf | Quickness | Does not stack | Stacks with other movement speed |
What it means for picking your race
- UP Human, Orc, Dwarf: no more weapon dependence. You used to need a sword, axe or mace to use the racial. Now the crit bonus applies whatever you hold: a caster Human or a Dwarf Priest benefits too.
- UP Tauren: a real damage racial. +2% critical damage and healing beats 1% hit once you have crit, and War Stomp comes back sooner.
- UP Troll: the most visible gain out of combat, since health regeneration doubles. Blood Fury is unchanged, the one that moved is the Orc's.
- NERF Orc: the big loser of the list. Blood Fury goes to a 3 minute cooldown and Shatter Curse protects much less (-5% magic damage instead of -15%), even though it now dispels curses.
- BALANCE Gnome and Undead: consistency tweaks. Eureka! now lasts 8 s with no charges and Touch of the Grave triggers more often for casters.
Order of magnitude, not a simulation: +2% critical strike chance is worth roughly +1 to +2% damage for a character whose attacks can almost all crit. We have not run these new values through our level-60 DPS simulator yet, so no numeric race ranking is given here.
